Help Shape Future Of Your College

In 2024, RACS took an important step forward in modernising its governance. A new Board was established to oversee the general business of the College of finance, risk, audit and operations while Council continues as the peak body for surgical standards, education and training, research and representation.

The Board includes the President, Vice President, up to five Fellow directors and up to four independent directors. With two independent directors already appointed, the next step is to appoint Fellow directors to replace the current interim members.

These are voluntary roles (with expenses covered), open to all Fellows, whether or not you currently serve on Council. Appointments will be for up to three years.

To ensure strong, skilled governance, Council has agreed on a clear set of criteria. We're looking for Fellows with proven experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • board experience
  • financial management and business acumen
  • audit and risk knowledge
  • advocacy experience.

The process is being led by a nominations committee chaired by an independent expert, with recommendations to be made to Council later this year.

If you believe in the power of strong governance and want to make a meaningful contribution to the future of your College, we encourage you to apply.
