Help Sought After Man's Death in Maribyrnong River

Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after an unidentified man was located deceased in the Maribyrnong River last month.

Police initially responded to reports of a man found unresponsive in the river just off Canning Street in Avondale Heights on Saturday 14 February about 11am.

Detectives made extensive enquiries into the identity of the man and are now appealing to the public for information.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, between 21 and 50-years-old, with dark hair, and facial hair.

He was wearing a dark shirt with 'BARBER' insignia, a studded belt, black jeans, black socks and a silver necklace.

The man also has distinctive tattoos on his arms including a 'Mr Horsepower' tattoo and 'Mum 1964 - 2006' on his right forearm and an outline of black flames around his left forearm.

Investigators have released CCTV and a digitally generated image of the man to assist with their enquiries.

The man is captured on CCTV prior to the incident on Duke Street in Sunshine North on Sunday, 8 February about 8:10pm.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
