Liberal for Kiama Serena Copley has welcomed the announcement of a $540,000 pilot program delivered by a Liberal Government offering local seniors more opportunities to live active, healthy and socially connected lives.

As part of the three-year pilot, Shellharbour City Council, Kiama Municipal Council and Shoalhaven City Council would each be able to opt in to for $60,000 a year to provide free or subsidised active seniors' programs, expand existing or commission new programs and increase participation.

"This pilot will give people with a current NSW Seniors Card access to affordable, high-quality programs that will help keep people physically and mentally healthy and engaged with the community," said Ms Copley.

"Our local seniors will be able to participate in subsidised classes helping them to keep active and engaged, and this will be a great preventative health measure. The program will also build stronger links for the participants, keeping them engaged with our community.

"This pilot is a great example of how Liberal Governments back our communities, and I will be a strong advocate for local services and programs like active seniors' pilot that help our community."
