Helping more Tasmanians into work

Job creation remains the number one priority for the Hodgman Liberal Government as we deliver on our long term plan to improve the lives of every Tasmanian.

Applications are now open for a critical program that will support skills development and increase job opportunities in key industry areas.

The Training and Work Pathways Program will provide $1.95 million for innovative projects to improve the skills and employment opportunities for Tasmanians who need additional help in breaking the barriers to access education.

Gaining new skills is a key step in allowing those experiencing disadvantage to join the workforce and get their lives back on track, and this program will directly address barriers to education and support people into work in areas of need.

Projects funded in 2017-18 engaged 850 participants with a target of 412 employment outcomes. This next round is expected to assist a similar amount of Tasmanians experiencing disadvantage.

Applications for the Training and Work Pathways Program close on Tuesday, 2 October, 2018.

We will continue to roll out job-creating initiatives such as this that will help even more Tasmanians into work in industries that need them.
