High range drink driving at Miles, QLD

Police have charged a 42-year-old woman with high range drink driving after she was allegedly almost five times the legal alcohol limit at Miles earlier this week, Queensland Police say.

Around 5.20pm on Wednesday, police intercepted a 42-year-old woman on Centenary Avenue and conducted a breath test where the driver provided a positive roadside result.

The woman was transported to a police station where it will be alleged the woman provided a breath alcohol concentration 0.230%.

It will further be alleged the woman was travelling with two children under the age of twelve and a third teenage passenger.

The woman has been charged with high range drink driving and wilful damage offences.

She is expected to appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court on March 1.

The woman’s driver’s licence has been immediately suspended.

Miles Officer In Charge Sergeant Werner Crous said the woman had the highest reading recorded in Miles for a considerable period of time and given the time of the day, with families returning from work, shopping, school and other leisure activities, the incident was concerning.

"All we ask is that if driving, be responsible and look after yourself and others," Sergeant Crous said.

"We have seen fatalities right across the country caused by people driving who are affected by alcohol and drugs – please do not take the chance, you owe it to yourself and other road users.

"Drink driving will not be tolerated or accepted in our communities."

Police remind all motorists that officers will actively target drink driving offenders and will continue to conduct Random Breath Tests throughout the state on residential roads, thoroughfares, highways, byways and all points between.
