High range drink driving charge after man crashes with child in car in Parramatta

A man has been charged with high range drink driving after a crash in North Parramatta on the weekend, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 8.30pm (Sunday 1 July 2018), a Chrysler PT Cruiser, being driven by a 57-year-old man, was travelling west on Gladstone Street. The Chrysler and a Toyota RAV 4 collided soon after.

The driver of the Toyota RAV 4, a 34-year-old woman, and her passenger, a five -year-old boy were uninjured.

The male driver attempted to leave the scene, but was stopped by bystanders.

Police from Parramatta Police Area Command were alerted and commenced investigations.

The male driver was breath tested at the scene, returning a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, allegedly returning a reading of 0.318.

He was charged with high range PCA, and not carry a licence.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 2 August 2018.

The 57-year-old man’s licence was suspended.
