Hit and run traffic crash at Pimpama, QLD

Police are searching for the driver and occupants of a stolen four-wheel drive which crashed into an oncoming vehicle on the M1 at Pimpama early this morning., Queensland Police say

Initial inquiries indicate around 2.50am a white 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee travelling north crossed into the southbound lanes of the M1 before colliding head-on with a station wagon.

The occupants of the four-wheel drive fled the vehicle.

The 60-year-old male driver of the station wagon has sustained serious leg injuries and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital where he has been admitted for treatment.

Police investigations have established the four-wheel drive with Queensland registration KLA51 was stolen from an address at Hope Island on November 25, 2018.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or the Jeep Grand Cherokee prior to the incident to come forward.
