A new Melbourne to the Murray Silo Art Road Trip brochure will be available this summer, guiding visitors to our region around the grain silos that have been transformed into towering works of art.
Silo Art has brought colour and creativity to regional Australia and celebrates the stories and spirit of our local communities, with the Silo Art trail a popular attraction for both tourists and residents.
Moira Shire Council launched the inaugural Melbourne to the Murray Silo Art Road Trip brochure in 2022 and has now joined with Campaspe Shire Council to produce this updated version, which maps out the Silo Art across the whole region.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said working with Campaspe Shire Council on the expanded brochure was a natural progression.
"The Silo Art trail doesn't stop at shire boundaries," Dr Emonson said.
"We want visitors to enjoy the full breadth of what our beautiful region has to offer, from our charming small towns to our mighty Murray River. The Silo Art trail is an essential and exciting part of that."
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell also welcomed the new brochure.
"I'm delighted that, in collaboration with Moira Shire Council, the stunning silo murals across our shire are now featured on the Melbourne to the Murray Silo Art Road Trip map," Cr Mackrell said.
"This recognition not only showcases the incredible talent of the artists and the stories behind these artworks, but will also attract visitors to explore our region, boosting local businesses and strengthening community pride."
Thirty thousand copies of the new brochure have been printed, with 10,000 copies for distribution in Melbourne and other areas of regional Victoria, and 10,000 each for Moira and Campaspe to distribute to visitors in our region.
The original brochure was popular with Melbourne people planning a visit to regional Victoria, and it's anticipated the new Silo Art map will be equally well received.
