An argument about dog ownership on a social networking website is believed to have led to an alleged home invasion near Albury, with two people now arrested, NSW Police say.
Police have been told there was a debate online about the responsibilities of dog owners on the afternoon of Tuesday 9 January 2018.
About 10.40pm, a 71-year-old man was asleep in bed at his Howlong home when he was woken by noise and went to investigate.
Police will allege the man was assaulted inside his home.
Officers from Albury Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced inquiries.
About 10am yesterday (Wednesday 10 January 2018) a 27-year-old man was arrested after police stopped a car at Howlong.
A 24-year-old woman was also arrested at a home in Howlong.
The man was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent – inflict actual bodily harm, aggravated detain for advantage, and resist arrest. He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Thursday 11 January 2018).
The woman was charged with intimidation and granted conditional bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Tuesday 16 January 2018.
