Home invasion charges in West Wollongong

A man has been charged as investigations continue after a man was assaulted in West Wollongong today, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Myuna Way, Mangerton, just after midday today, after reports of an altercation, during which a man was injured.

Officers from Wollongong Local Area Command attended and found a 20-year-old man with a head wound, after being struck with an object.

He was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Following inquiries, just before 1.30pm today, an 18-year-old man was arrested at a home in Coniston.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with special aggravated break & enter and commit serious indictable offence – wound.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.

As investigations continue, police are still to identify other people who may be able to assist with their inquires.
