Home invasion in Nowra

Police are investigating a home invasion in the Shoalhaven region this morning in which a couple in their 60s were confronted in bed and the man was assaulted, NSW Police say.

About 2.20am tomorrow, a man forced entry to a home in Bluewattle Road, Worrigee, a suburb of Nowra, and confronted the couple who were asleep in bed.

The man demanded cash before striking the 67-year-old man with a piece of timber.

The pair struggled into the hallway before the man left the house, taking a handbag, a wallet and the couple’s Mazda 323.

Police were called to the property and established a crime scene.

The 67-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries to his hand, shoulder and chest. His wife was not physically injured.

About 7am the stolen Mazda 323 was located burnt out in Quinns Lane, South Nowra.

Police are now working to identify a man described as being about 175cm tall and wearing dark-coloured long, loose pants, a hoodie and a cap.
