Home owner assaulted in overnight break-in at Royal Park, SA

Western Adelaide Police are searching for a man that broke into a Royal Park home overnight, stole a handbag and assaulted an occupant, according to SA Police.

Just on 2am this morning, police patrols were called to a home on Wattle Avenue, after a male suspect walked into the rear of the house via an unlocked door and stole a handbag.

The occupants of the house who were awake at the time, saw the man inside their house and chased him from the premises.

The male resident scuffled with the suspect on the street, wrestling the handbag back off the suspect, but in the process was punched in the face by the offender, who then ran from the scene.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian, about 25-26 years-old, 180cms, large build, wearing a red top and dark coloured pants.

Police patrols including a dog patrol searched the area but the suspect wasn't located.

The male home owner received a small scratch to the side of his face, which didn't require medical treatment.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
