Homes evacuated, bush burnt in Rossmore

Five homes have been evacuated as a precaution after a bushfire broke out in Sydney’s south west this afternoon, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Rossmore Avenue, Rossmore, after bushland was reported to be on fire about 5.30pm today.

Fire-fighters from Fire & Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service attended and brought the blaze under control but not before an estimated two hectares had been burnt.

Five homes were evacuated as a precaution, and a 41-year-old man was treated on site for the effects of smoke inhalation. He has now been taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Once the scene is declared safe police and fire investigators will be examining the site to determine the cause of the blaze.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
