Homicide charges, Rangeville

Police have charged a man and a woman with murder following investigations into the sudden death of an eight-year-old girl at a Rangeville home over the weekend.

Police were called to a residence about 5.30pm on Saturday, January 8, where the child was located deceased.

Following investigations led by detectives from the Toowoomba Child Protection and Investigation Unit, with support of the Child Trauma Unit and the Homicide Investigation Unit, a 50-year-old Rangeville man and a 46-year-old Rangeville woman were taken into custody earlier today (January 11).

They have both been charged with one count each of murder, torture and failure to provide necessities of life.

Both people were known to the child.

The man and woman were denied police bail and will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow (January 12).
