Homicide investigation arrest at Kingston, QLD

Detectives investigating the suspicious death of a 2-year-old boy at Kingston in April 2015 have this morning arrested a 29-year-old man with murder as part of Operation North Arete, Queensland Police say.

Around 3pm on Wednesday, April 8, police were advised that a 2-year-old boy had been located by emergency services unconscious in a home on Ariel Street, Kingston.

The boy was taken to Logan Hospital, then transported to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital where he passed away a short time after arriving.

An investigation centre was commenced by the Logan District Child Protection and Investigation Unit with assistance from the Child Trauma Unit and State Crime Command.

Detective Inspector Mark White said significant resources were committed to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the child’s death.

"These investigations have resulted in a 29-year-old Woodridge man being arrested this morning for murder," Detective Inspector White said.

"The death of any child is always tragic but this is a particularly distressing case where a young child has suffered horrific injuries.

"Our team of detectives are determined to complete a robust and exhaustive investigation and are continuing to appeal for anyone with information which could assist us to come forward."
