Homicide investigation at Manoora

Detectives have commenced a homicide investigation following the death of a man in Manoora last night.

At 11.50pm police were called to a unit complex on Marchant Street in Manoora following reports a man had been wounded with a knife.

Upon arrival, a 25-year-old Cairns man was located deceased outside the unit complex.

A 21-year-old Mareeba woman was located nearby and taken into police custody. She is currently assisting police with their enquires.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen a man and woman in the vicinity of Navigation Drive and Trinity Beach Road in Trinity Beach last night between 11pm and 11.30pm to contact police.

Police will allege the man and woman, who were known to each other, travelled from Trinity Beach to Marchant Street in a taxi.

Investigations are ongoing.
