A homicide investigation is underway following the death of a man in Cairns overnight.
Around 1.30am this morning, police were called to a White Rock address and located a man in his fifties with stab wounds to his back.
Emergency services rendered assistance however he was declared deceased at the scene.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations into the circumstances of the incident are underway.
A man in his sixties is assisting police with their enquiries.
