NT Government

The Northern Territory Fire and Emergency Services (NTFES) has unveiled a brand-new accolade for its employees and volunteers.

The Women in Fire and Emergency Services Award will recognise an individual member, regardless of their gender, who has made a significant contribution to women in the agency.

Key criteria for nominations for the Women in Fire and Emergency Services Award include:

· Demonstrating exceptional leadership

· Promoting gender equality and inclusion

· Providing outstanding support to women

· Leading or supporting meaningful initiatives.

This could be through acting as a role model or mentor, championing programs that create lasting benefits for women in the agency, delivering exceptional service, and fostering a workplace culture that positively impacts women.

Nominations for the Women in Fire and Emergency Award will open on 2 January 2026 for four weeks.

The winner will be announced on the Friday before International Women's Day, on 6 March 2026.

Quotes from Commissioner of NT Fire and Emergency Services, Andrew Warton:

"The Women in Fire and Emergency Services Award is open to all volunteers and members of NTFES.

"If you know an individual who is doing exceptional things for women in fire and emergency services, we want to hear from you.

"It's an honour to recognise and celebrate these trailblazers, who play a key role in inspiring the next generation of fire and emergency service professionals and volunteers who keep our communities safe."
