Hoon driver arrested at Darlington, SA

A Seacombe Heights man will face court on numerous traffic charges after he was arrested for hoon driving and being involved in a police pursuit at Darlington last night, according to SA Police.

Just after 6.30pm, an unmarked police patrol spotted the man driving a Ford XR6 on Marion Road, accelerating rapidly on three occasions when executing right hand turns, spinning the wheels of the car causing the rear of the vehicle to fishtail from side to side.

The patrol went to stop the car, but the male driver refused, and he was followed through a few back streets before he came to a dead end street and attempt to run from the vehicle, however he was quickly detained and arrested.

The 49-year-old man was charged with misuse of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving to evade police and drink driving, after he allegedly returned a breath test reading of 0.094.

The man's car was also impounded for 28 days.

The arrested man was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
