Westgate Highway Patrol officers put the brakes on a driver who was caught allegedly travelling more than double the speed limit in Hoppers Crossing this morning, Victoria Police say.
Police observed the Mercedes travelling along Morris Road at an alleged speed of 157km/h in a 60km/h zone about 1.05am.
The car was intercepted shortly after.
The driver, a 26-year-old Hoppers Crossing man, had his car impounded at a cost of $1006.10.
He is expected to be charged on summons with speeding.
