The first show is a taut, rapid-fire and gripping one-woman show by Suzie Miller (Sunset Strip). Prima Facie exposes the shortcomings of a patriarchal justice system where it’s her word against his. Sheridan Harbridge stars as Tessa-a criminal lawyer at the top of her game who knows the law permits no room for emotion in a tour-de-force performance. Prima Facie is playing for six performances from 11 August.
The second show is I’ve Been Meaning to Ask You, created by The Good Room. IBMTAY has young people asking adults all the big questions: Why do you drink to have fun? What was life like before the internet? Why do you have to go to work? They asked. You answered. The next generation is dropping some truths… and the mic. For this production HotHouse is inviting local artists to audition to participate in the show, which has 6 performances from 6 October.
The third show in SEASON 2021:PART TWO is the compelling Chase, written and performed by Carly Sheppard. Hailing from the streets of Frankston, the character Chase is on a spiritual journey to reclaim her cultural heritage. Compelling, repelling, and disarmingly funny, join her as she sifts through the weeds of modern culture with a handy cam and her 33 YouTube subscribers for company. Chase has 6 performances from 9 November.
Socially distanced restrictions are still affecting the capacity in the Butter Factory Theatre, so tickets for these shows will be at a premium. HotHouse has also introduced allocated seating allowing patrons to choose their seats at the time of purchase.
Subscribers will have first access to available seats with a priority period from 24 June-9 July. They can lock in their dates and time to secure their seats. Single tickets will be on sale from 10 July.
Subscriptions can be purchased via hothousetheatre.com.au or phoning the office on 02 6021 7433.
“We have three fantastic new shows, including a world premiere new First Nations work and a wonderful work featuring an all-local cast of young people. While we might have found our way home, we continue to find our way to resilience. All the works celebrate the strength that we have as individuals and a community to move through adversity to triumph. PART TWO is filled with surprise, inspiration and delight.”
