House fire in Oakhurst

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire which has caused significant damage to a house in Sydney’s west this morning, NSW Police say.

It was about 1.45am tomorrow, emergency services were called to Dutch Place, Oakhurst, where they found the vacant house well alight.

Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW worked to extinguish the blaze, and contained it to the main site with only minor damage to neighbouring properties.

Police from Mt Druitt Local Area Command have been told the house has been vacant for some months; time no injuries have been reported.

A crime scene has been established; the fire is being treated as suspicious until the cause can be determined.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
