House fire - Petersham, NSW

An investigation is underway following a house fire at Petersham, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Brighton Street about 8.30pm today, where they found a home well alight.

The occupant, a 54-year-old man, made his way out of the house and was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

The man’s three dogs were removed from the house by police and Fire & Rescue NSW officers. They weren’t injured.

The blaze was extinguished and officers from Marrickville Local Area Command commenced inquiries.

Inquiries are continuing; however, the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
