House fire – Southport

Police are investigating after a fire cause significant damage to a house at Southport this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Around 1.30pm emergency services were called after reports from neighbouring properties of smelling smoke coming from the Allen Street residence.

On arrival emergency services found the back patio on the second storey well alight.

The fire was eventually extinguished but smoke, heat and water damage was caused to the entire second storey level of the home.

Police forensic officers have attended the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.
