House struck by car in Menai

A man has been charged with drink driving after the car he was driving left the road and crashed into a home at Menai earlier today, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 6am today (Sunday 8 April 2018), emergency services were called to Ferrier Drive after reports a vehicle had struck a home.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command attended and located two people who had been in the vehicle.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene after he failed a roadside breath test.

The man underwent a breath analysis at Sutherland Police Station where he returned an alleged reading of 0.086.

The man was charged with driving with the mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol (MRPCA) and negligent driving.

He has been issued a field court attendance notice to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 3 May 2018.

A passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended to secure the premises and ensure that the structural integrity had not been compromised.

A light pole was also struck during the incident and a power company are attending to render it safe.

Inquiries into the incident continue.
