Houseboats targeted on Murray River, NSW

Police are investigating a number of break and enters on houseboats on the Murray River overnight, NSW Police say.

Between 8pm yesterday and 7.30am today, five houseboats moored on the Murray River were broken into. The vessels were situated at Ranfurly Bend, Merbein on the Victorian side of the Murray River.

It appears entry into the houseboats was by smashing windows and items including tools were taken from the vessels.

A further houseboat was completely destroyed by fire and was located by the owner.

Several crime scenes have been established and Forensic Services Group attended.

Dareton Detectives, with the assistance of Victoria Police, have commenced an investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
