Hunter crash leaves two seriously injured, NSW

Two people have been seriously injured after a crash in the Hunter Valley overnight, NSW Police say.

About 7.28pm (Sunday 14 October 2018) yesterday a Toyota Hilux, travelling west, and a Mitsubishi Pajero, travelling east, collided on Lake Road at Elrington, 10km east of Cessnock.

A 26-year-old man, who was the driver and sole occupant of the utility, and the 18-year-old female driver of the Pajero were seriously injured. Both have been taken to john Hunter Hospital.

A male passenger in the 4WD was also taken to hospital to be checked as a precaution, while a second passenger escaped injury.

Crash investigation police are continuing their inquiries into the events leading up to the collision.
