A hydroponic cannabis crop appears to be the cause of a fire that destroyed at Glynde overnight, according to SA Police.
Police and fire crews were called to reports of a smoke coming from a property in Lewis Road, Glynde about 12.20am on Wednesday 30 November.
The shed was well alight when emergency services arrived at the scene and was extinguished by fire crews. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the house.
Fire officers discovered that the electricity set-up in the shed was all homemade. The Office of the Technical Regulator will attend today to ensure the electricity supply at the property is safe and complies with regulations.
A 50-year-old Glynde man was reported for cultivate cannabis and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Police also wish to remind the public of the dangers of growing cannabis and interfering with electricity, not only is it illegal but it can often cause fires.
