Igniting collaboration between VIC businesses and VU's research

The ignite innovation series is an exciting collaboration between the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Victorian universities, CSIRO, the Victorian Government and businesses to highlight, encourage and foster Victoria’s revolutionary industry-linked innovation and research capabilities.

The event will welcome businesses, researchers, sports people, investors and innovation lovers to learn about the fascinating world of sports science and better understand how these developments can enhance workplace performance.

Most importantly, this will be an opportunity for businesses to engage one-on-one with researchers and explore possible collaborations to get ground-breaking projects off the ground.

"Evidence shows that when businesses collaborate with researchers, they more than triple their likelihood of annual productivity growth," said Mark Stone AM, Victorian Chamber’s Chief Executive.

"We want to make sure Victorian businesses know how to collaborate with the universities and don’t miss out on opportunities. We are showcasing what Victoria is famous for."

Under the theme Enhancing human performance through innovation in elite sports, this second ignite will be delivered by the Victorian Chamber in partnership with Victoria University (VU).

VU is leader in cutting-edge sport science and have partnered with major sporting organisations such as FIFA, Tennis Australia, Athletics Australia and AFL club the Western Bulldogs to develop cutting-edge initiatives.

"VU is well-known as a leader in sports science in Australia and internationally," said Victoria University Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Dawkins. "Our academics and research students work at the cutting edge and have a proud history of progressing sports science globally."

Among the presenters for Friday’s event are VU’s world class sports science experts: Professor Damian Farrow, Dr Alice Sweeting, Professor Rob Aughey and Dr Karen Mickle, who are expected to "wow" the audience with their knowledge and engaging ‘talk show’ style.

This is an initiative not to be missed. Come and witness how forward-thinking collaboration and commercialisation of research can be ignited when great minds collide. ---
