Image released after Sydney CBD monuments damaged, NSW

An image of a male police believe might be able to assist with inquiries into the malicious damage of a number of public monuments in Sydney’s CBD, has been released, NSW Police say.

The vandalism is believed to have occurred between 2.25am-3.15am today.

Statues of Captain Cook, Governor Macquarie and Queen Victoria were damaged.

Graffiti was sprayed on the Archibald Memorial Fountain, ANZAC Memorial, several park benches in Hyde Park, and in Martin Place

Crime scenes were established throughout the park and Martin Place.

The man depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a full face beard.

When last seen he was wearing black sunglasses, khaki coloured jacket with a red shirt or scarf underneath, black track pants and brown boots.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
