Image released as police investigate Melbourne stabbing

Detectives from the Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit have released an image as part of their investigation into a stabbing in the Melbourne CBD late last year.

Investigators have been told a man was walking with friends down Lonsdale Street when he was approached by an unknown man about 2.30am on 7 December, 2020.

A fight broke out during which the victim sustained a stab wound to the upper body.

The offender fled the scene in a southerly direction on Lonsdale Street.

A 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives have released the image of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 30s, with a thin build and blonde hair.

He was wearing a dark coloured jumper, black jeans with rips at the knees and black sneakers.
