Images released as police probe attempted armed robbery in Hurstville

Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist them as they investigate an attempted armed robbery of a food shop in Hurstville earlier this year, NSW Police say.

About 7.35am on Wednesday 2 March 2016, a man armed with an axe entered the store at the intersection of Croydon and Queens Roads and approached the front counter.

Police have been told the armed man threatened an employee, before fleeing the scene empty handed.

The employee, who was uninjured, contacted officers attached to St George Local Area Command, who attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries into the incident continue, detectives have released an image of a man who may be able to assist them.

He is depicted in the images as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 20s, with short blond/brown hair, about 175cm tall and of slim build.

The man is seen wearing a red jumper over other clothing, a scarf around his neck and mouth, dark sunglasses and he is carrying a grey cloth bag.

Anyone who has information on the identity of the man is urged to come forward and contact Crime Stopers.
