Immediate road closure Mt Barker Road Stirling

On Wednesday 3 February a tree hazard opposite the wood yard on Mt Barker road was brought to the attention of Council staff. This tree is wholly on private property and has become unbalanced following pruning conducted by the resident. On the afternoon of Wednesday 3 February following inspection by Council staff, an order to immediately make the tree safe was issued by Council to the property owners. Mount Barker Road is controlled by the Department of Infrastructure (DIT) but given the forecast windy and stormy condition in the next few days, Council believes the tree presents an immediate hazard to public safety and has decided to proactively manage its removal.

This emergency tree work requires Mt Barker Road to be closed both ways this morning during removal of this substantial tree. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding as we remove the hazard to pedestrians and vehicles.
