Improved services for Papunya

Department of Human Services

Services Australia will increase the Agent service in Papunya to a full-time service from tomorrow, Thursday 1 April 2021.

The MacDonnell Regional Council will continue to host the Agent service from its offices at Lot 256 Papunya Road.

The Agent previously operated for 20 hours a week. The Papunya Centrelink Service Centre, which had operated from the same council building, has been closed since March 2020 due to COVID-19 and will not re-open.

Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen said Services Australia regularly reviewed its service offering to ensure it suited the needs of the community.

"Increasing the Papunya Agent service from 20 hours a week to a full-time service means facilities and assistance will be available for our customers every weekday.

'Customers can continue to use the self-service facilities and if they need additional assistance, trained Agent staff will be available to help with accessing Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support,' Mr Jongen said.

'Agents receive extensive training and ongoing support to assist with access to self-service facilities, certifying Proof of Identity documents and accessing general information.
