This follows feedback from industry that the privileges of the Grade 1 training endorsement did not reflect the responsibilities that would normally be associated with these instructors.
This change reduces the burden on flight examiners by introducing a more proportionate approach so more people can assess and grant authorisations.
What this means
The changes will benefit:
- Grade 1 training endorsement holders
- trainees for the nominated authorisations
- flight training operators.
Flight instructors with a Grade 1 training endorsement can now:
- train other instructors who are qualifying for some additional training endorsements without holding the instructor rating training endorsement
- conduct assessments (flight tests) for several other authorisations that the Grade 1 training endorsement holder is authorised to conduct training for.
