Improving pedestrian links in Crestwood Reserve

Work on the Toongabbie Creek Revitalisation project continues to progress in Crestwood Reserve, in Baulkham Hills.

During Tuesday's Ordinary Meeting of Council, tenders were awarded for the construction of two new footbridges over Toongabbie Creek. The new bridges will improve all-weather use for recreational traffic such as pedestrians and cyclists.

"We've already completed concrete garden edging, concrete footpaths and bike tracks, as well as bush regeneration activities along the creek line" Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said.

"Our contractor will soon prepare the site to construct the two pedestrian bridges. During this time, some of our footpaths and current bridges maybe impacted by construction works. I thank residents for their patience and understanding, and I ask that those using the pathways to follow safety instructions and signage.

"The improvements made to Toongabbie Creek will ultimately improve the immediate amenity of the area – providing opportunities for further passive recreation, better pedestrians links and improvements to our waterways.

"The next stage of the project will include further planting and embankment stabilisation works near the pedestrian bridges, as well as the areas of waterway civil works currently being constructed," Mayor Byrne added.

Toongabbie Creek Revitalisation project is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2021, with weather permitting.
