Inactive clan lab, drugs and chemicals located during search for firearms in Kellyville

A man has been charged after police located an inactive clandestine laboratory, prohibited drugs, and chemicals during a search warrant in Sydney’s north-west.

As part of ongoing investigations into firearms supply, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit and PolAir, executed a search warrant at a home at Kellyville just after 7am yesterday (Tuesday 8 May 2018), NSW Police say.

A 37-year-old man was served a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) before being arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station.

After entry was gained into the home, investigators located an inactive clandestine laboratory and chemicals consistent with the manufacture of Gamma-butyrolactone (GBL).

The area was rendered safe by Chemical Operations Team and Fire & Rescue NSW – Hazmat, before being dismantled.

The search resumed and investigators located and seized ice, steroids, prescription drugs, various calibres of ammunition, mobile phones, documentation.

Investigators also seized a Range Rover, Maserati, and Izuzu truck, which will undergo further examination.

The man was charged with manufacture prohibited drug in circumstances of aggravation, supply prohibited drug, organises/conducts/assists drug premises, and three counts of possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 9 May 2018).
