Inaugural Premier's Youth Advisory Council established

Will Hodgman,Premier

I am delighted to announce the establishment of the inaugural Premier's Youth Advisory Council.

It will provide an invaluable opportunity for the Tasmanian Government to hear the voices, concerns and ideas of young people from diverse backgrounds, ages and communities on issues and policies affecting them.

The Council will be comprised of young people aged between 12 and 25, and will advise me and the Government on matters important to them, and on how to best work together to deliver positive outcomes for young Tasmanians.

This builds on the substantial work already underway across Government to support young people, but creates another avenue to hear their views directly, and reflects the high value we place on what they think.

The Council also complements the important work of the Commissioner for Children and Young People, and the Youth Network of Tasmania through both the CCYP Ambassador program and YNOT's Tasmanian Youth Forum program.

Members will be selected through an expression of interest process, which will be advertised shortly.

Tania Hunt, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Network of Tasmania, will also be part of the Council.

The first meeting of the Council is planned for December.
