Increased Police At Weekend Events At Caloundra

Sunshine Coast police are urging residents to be aware of road closures around Caloundra this weekend and to expect increased police presence, with two major events likely to draw large crowds.

The Mounted Unit and Highway Patrol Unit will join general duties officers from the Southern Patrol Group on Friday 29 May during Ladies Oaks Day at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

Both units will also help boost police presence at Beachfest in the Caloundra CBD from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May, as well as patrols by POLAIR.

Officers will be conducting random breath tests and other traffic operations to maintain safety.

Road closures will impact The Esplanade, Minchinton Street and Bulcock Street on Friday between 3pm and 10pm.

There will also be road closures around the Caloundra CBD including Bulcock Street, the Esplanade and Omrah Avenue between 5am and 4pm on Saturday, and again on the Esplanade between 5.30am and 1.30pm on Sunday.

Police would like to encourage attendees to plan their travel ahead of time and to behave responsibly.
