Indecent assault at shopping centre in Ryde

Police appeal for witnesses after a teenage girl was indecently assaulted at a shopping centre in Ryde yesterday morning, NSW Police say.

About 11.15am yesterday, a 17-year-old girl was walking across pedestrian foot bridge from Blaxland Road to a shopping centre in Ryde when she was approached by a man who indecently assaulted her.

The girl screamed and the man ran away downstairs onto Devlin Street.

She was not injured.

After reviewing CCTV, police are now appealing for public assistance to help identify a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian in appearance, in his late 20s with a chubby build, 180cm tall, brown medium-length curly hair. At the time he was wearing a dark t-shirt.

Anyone with information about the man or who was in the area at the time and noticed anything suspicious is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
