Independent living service is Bayside's best business

A company that supports people to live independently in their homes for longer has taken out the Best Business in Bayside at the inaugural Bayside Business Excellence Awards.

Developed by Bayside's five Rotary Clubs - Brighton, Brighton North, Beaumaris, Hampton and Sandringham - in partnership with Council's Bayside Business Network, the Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding performance by local businesses

Prestige Inhome Care, founded by nurse Nick McDonald in 2005, also won the Professional Services category at the ceremony held at Sandringham Yacht Club last night. A diverse clothing store dedicated to women of all shapes and sizes Kicking Curves won Best New Business and the Retail category.

Bayside City Council was major sponsor of the Awards. Bayside Mayor, Councillor Michael Heffernan congratulated all the winners and said the Awards illustrated the vibrancy and ingenuity of the local business community.

"Council jumped at the opportunity to support our local businesses with these Awards. To recognise and reward the ingenuity and determination of local business owners and their staff.

"The incredible level of participation and high quality of the finalists demonstrates what a prosperous business community we have in Bayside."

MC and Brighton Rotary member, Matt Nichols said that the aim of the Awards was to recognise and celebrate outstanding performance of local businesses across Bayside.

"The independent judging panel of representatives with business, government and academic backgrounds faced a challenging task ranking applicants, participating in site visits to potential finalists and assessing their entries.

"The quality of the finalists was exceptional. The Awards were a celebration of business excellence in Bayside."
