Independent Review Of Enhanced Regulatory Sandbox

Australian Treasury

The Albanese Government has appointed Ms Maha El Dimachki as the independent reviewer of the Enhanced Regulatory Sandbox (ERS).

The review will support the Government's broader productivity agenda because a well‑functioning ERS promotes innovation. It is an opportunity to assess how the existing ERS design and Australia's settings can be more effective to encourage Australia's FinTech capability.

Ms El Dimachki has extensive experience and networks in the fintech sector and regulatory environment. She currently leads the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation Hub Singapore centre.

The Government is committed to supporting start‑ups and new businesses to develop, test and launch their innovative financial and credit services and products.

This is critical to a dynamic economy where competition, choice, consumer protection and a stable financial system are at the heart of it.

This review will also deliver on one of the four primary elements in the Government's March 2025 Statement on Developing an Innovative Australian Digital Asset Industry.

Commencing in November 2025, the review will consult with a wide range of stakeholders and be completed in mid‑2026.
