Indonesian customs changes

Australia Post

From 1 August 2021, there are additional requirements for both businesses and consumers sending to Indonesia.

Additional customs requirements

Customs declaration forms must include the corresponding tax ID (NPWP) of the Indonesian resident, where available. Business customers also need to include the business or corporate addresses, and relevant tax ID information. For private addresses, if the tax ID is not available, please use one of the following alternatives:

  • National identity number (NIK)
  • Passport number (for foreigners), or
  • Other identification number e.g. driver's licence number.

Always ensure your customs declaration includes the information required by the destination customs authority. Your item may be delayed if insufficient information is supplied. When sending with Australia Post, you can capture this information in the 'Importers Reference Number' field when purchasing your postage online, or lodging over the counter.
