Northern Territory Police have fined a man after he was caught speeding in excess of 110 km/hr over the speed limit in East Arnhem yesterday.
The 31-year-old man was traveling along the Rowell Highway, which has a speed limit of 90km/hr, at a reported 200km/hr. A female was also in the passenger seat.
Police issued the driver with an infringement notice for:
- Driving at dangerous speed - Exceed limit 45km/hr - $1040 fine
Senior Sergeant Tanya Woodcock said, "High range speeding like this is incredibly dangerous and there is no excuse for it, drivers should be aware that police can record vehicle speeds from both stationary and mobile units. It's not worth the risk, this could have very easily ended in tragedy. "
