Injured bushwalker rescued, Currumbin Valley

Police have located and rescued an injured girl who was bush walking in the Currumbin Valley this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Police received information that a 16-year-old girl had been struck by a rock that had come loose from a cliff and was suffering from suspected spinal injuries.

The girl, who was unable to walk, was being carried out by three other 16-year-old bush walkers.

Police commenced a search of the area using helicopters, police and SES personal on foot.

The Queensland police helicopter located the injured girl, and guided searchers on the ground to her location.

The girl was given initial first aid at the scene and was winched by helicopter out of the area and transported to hospital.
