Injury to police dog at Coomera, QLD

A police dog has been seriously injured following an incident at Coomera overnight, Queensland Police say.

Officers were called to a location near Cirrus Way around 8.15pm after reports of a disturbance.

During the course of an arrest a police dog has been set upon by another dog, forcing officers to use OC spray on the attacking animal in attempt to subdue it.

The attempt to subdue the dog has failed, and police were forced to discharge a weapon which fatally injured the attacking dog.

The police dog "Bravo" sustained serious injuries and was treated by a vet overnight.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating.

No person was physically injured.
