Inquiries continue into fatal shooting at Doonside

Inquiries are continuing after a fatal shooting in Sydney's west last night.

About 7.30pm (Monday 27 May 2019), police attended Meridian Place, Doonside, following reports a man had been shot.

Officers attended and located a 51-year-old man suffering a number of gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and officers from Blacktown Police Area Command and State Crime Command's Homicide Squad commenced inquiries.

A short time later, five men, aged 44, 29, 28, 27, and 22, were arrested after vehicle stops in the St Marys area.

The 44-year-old and 28-year-old were taken to St Marys Police Station and the other three were taken to Penrith Police Station. They all continue to assist with inquiries.

Inquiries into the incident continue. The shooting is believed to be targeted.
