Inquiries underway following single car crash in Woolooware

A man is in hospital under police guard following a single-car crash south of Sydney yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before midnight today, police and emergency services were called to the Kingsway at Woolooware following reports of a crash.

Initial inquiries suggest the driver of a Subaru WRX crashed into a car and two parked vehicles.

As a result the Subaru has rolled onto its side trapping the driver for a short time.

Several bystanders were able to release the man who then allegedly ran from the scene.

Police from Miranda Local Area Command and the Dog Unit searched for the man and arrested him a short time later in Denman Avenue.

A 25-year-old man was taken to Sutherland Hospital by NSW Ambulance Paramedics with lacerations and is in a stable condition.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing and charges are expected to be laid.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
