Insurers have received 1386 claims as a result of bushfires that have been impacting Victoria since 7 January.
The almost 1400 claims includes property, commercial, motor and business interruption claims, with early indications suggesting 30 per cent of all current property claims are total losses. Insurers are already processing these claims.
Several insurers and ICA representatives have established a presence at the Castlemaine Recovery Centre from today to assist locals in the claims process.
Insurers are also closely monitoring access to other communities and plan to have additional resources on the ground across the State as soon as it's safe to do so.
