The Marshall Government is getting behind Adelaide's favourite backyard gig series, providing support to the Porch Sessions' amplified spin-off, Porchland.
To be held tomorrow at The Range, just outside Kuitpo Forest in McLaren Vale, Porchland offers an exciting program of live music while celebrating South Australian creatives through market stalls of local fashion, homewares, jewellery, food and drinks.
Porchland is a boutique, family-friendly music and arts festival, and is expected to attract more than 1000 people over the day from 1pm to 10pm.
International acts Kevin Morby (US) and Waxahatchee (US) will play alongside Australian favourites Greta Stanley, Angie McMahon, Nice Biscuit and Adelaide's own, Delia Obst and Runebilly Rattle.
Accompanying the music will be quality South Australian food and drink, as well as more than 20 local artisan stall holders showcasing locally-made wares from the South Coast. There will also be a screening of a surf film produced by Andy Manners of State of Surf that will showcase the state's best surfers to an exclusively SA soundtrack.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway said events such as Porchland would bring welcome economic activity and added vibrancy to our wonderful regional communities.
"Porch Sessions and Porchland have become an important part of the fabric of South Australia's music culture, bringing communities together and putting local artists on the map," said Minister Ridgway.
"We are committed to helping ensure the State has a balanced and exciting calendar of events that provides year-round benefits to our tourism industry, the community and the economy."
South Australian Tourism Commission, Chief Executive, Rodney Harrex, said South Australia was known worldwide for its superior festivals and events, which all contribute to our record $6.7 billion visitor economy.
"With three successful Porchland festivals held previously, the SATC and the Music Development Office provided funding to assist Porchland in delivering another great event, and to help reinforce South Australia as a UNESCO City of Music," Mr Harrex said.
"We are committed to supporting local events and businesses, which generate beneficial outcomes for regional communities – so come along, bring your family, friends and even your dog to this relaxed but uplifting event."
